Steve Sobenko

Provide a short summary of why you should be selected by the community as a Digital Experience MVP

I'm an experienced CMS/DXP professional, working mainly in healthcare and finance, with over 20 years in the field. I focus on integrating CMS systems smoothly into our clients' digital operations. I'm skilled in both old and new CMS tech and help businesses navigate the tricky parts of digital upgrades. My job is to evaluate their current tech, find what's missing, and suggest better options that fit their future plans. I've led CMS teams and shaped practices at Merge, Rightpoint, and Nishtech.

Contributions you have made in the Digital Experience (DX) community online and in-person (i.e., blog posts, podcasts, webinars, encouraged others to join)?

Other than forwarding and reposting any articles or interesting material I see in the community space, my presence as an outward technology advocate is not very public. Many of my contributions are directly with teams and clients, privately. I'm excited to see the DXP community growing and love this shared space for learning, tinkering, and evolving together.

What encouraging words would you like to share with those new to the community and perhaps new in their career?

This career path, working with emerging and evolving DXP platforms, can be incredibly rewarding, fulfilling and defeating, discouraging at the same time. To quote Neil deGrasse Tyson "As the area of our knowledge grows, so too does the perimeter of our ignorance." Working in this industry, we face some of the hardest problems that require some incredibly innovative and clever solutions. Remember, at the end of the day, even the so-called experts are learning every single day. The best way to learn is to break things. I've been asked many times how I know how to fix the strangest issues and my answer is "I only know how to fix that because at one point in my life, I broke that". Stick with it, the going will be tough, but learn every day and enjoy it.
